San Antonio Restaurants with Playgrounds

The Friendly Spot Ice House

Address: 943 S Alamo St, San Antonio, TX 78205

The Friendly Spot Playground
The Friendly Spot Ice House – Playground

The Friendly Spot serves all of the local beer favorites from the microbreweries in the area, as well as out of state brews. They also have a playground if you have kids and it’s a dog-friendly beer garden! Just be aware during basketball season, The Friendly Spot Ice House can get pretty rowdy, SATX is Spurs’ City and they show Spur’s games in a big inflatable screen.

Alamo BBQ

Address: 511 E Grayson St, San Antonio, TX 78215

Alamo BBQ Playground
Alamo BBQ – Playground

Great local BBQ, beer, cocktails and wine and oh yeah a playground for the little ones. This restaurant has amazing outdoor seating patio and live music. Get a drink, bring your kids, it’s family-friendly and affordable. Alamo BBQ is another Chef Jason Dady creation serving up great plates of BBQ in SATX. Alamo BBQ is a sister BBQ join to B & D Icehouse located in Southtown and Two-Brothers BBQ up North San Antonio. Emily and I have been to Alamo BBQ several times, with kids or just adults, it’s always a fun friendly place to eat and relax with friends. Alamo BBQ used to be a tapas bar called ‘The Bin’ serving some of the best sangria downtown SA, but it’s since been converted into a great BBQ join by the owner.

Bottling Department – Food Hall at Pearl

Address: 312 Pearl Parkway, Building 6, San Antonio, TX

Bottling Department – Inside

Bottling Department is a food hall located in the middle of the Pearl Brewery just north of downtown SATX. Bottling Department has numerous food vendors/restaurants inside serving chicken, ramen, burgers and pretty much anything your heart desires. Outside of the Bottling Department is a grassy area and a splash pad for kids to run around in the heat of the San Antonio summer. If you’re visiting SATX in the dead of summer, give Bottling Department a try, plenty of food and kids can stay cool by splashing around. Note: This is best in the summer, but sometimes ‘winter’ in SATX can get up to 80s.

CommonWealth Coffee

Address: 611 Hemisfair Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78205

CommonWealth Coffee - Hemisfair
CommonWealth Coffee – Hemisfair

CommonWealth Coffee is right next to the Yanaguana Garden at Hemisfair which is a huge open playground + splash pad. The splash pad gets extremely busy in the summer, but there’s also a playground for kids that’s pretty huge. The playground is only available for the Hemisfair location of CommonWealth Coffee. CommonWealth Coffee, as you can probably guess offers specialty coffee, and made to order sandwiches. They also have pastries available for purchase and cozy seating, although their indoor space isn’t very big. The outdoor seating is much bigger and would probably work better for larger groups.

Two Bros. BBQ Market

Address: 12656 West Ave, San Antonio, TX 78216

A little bit of a drive from downtown (relatively speaking), Two Bros. BBQ Market is the quintessential BBQ joint in the heart of Texas. The restaurant has seating for large groups, indoors and outdoors, and more importantly, has a large playground in the back. Friendly, staff, great bbq, and affordable prices, Two Bros. BBQ Market is hard to beat.

Center Court Pizza & Brew Stone Oak

Address: 20711 Wilderness Oak #113, San Antonio, TX

Center Court Pizza & Brew Stone Oak is located north of downtown SA in Stoneoak, serving beer, pizza, cocktails. The restaurant is geared towards kids + adults, with a playground and you can drink a cold beer while trying to catch the game and ‘watch’ your kids at the same time.

The Cove: Sustainable, Organic, Local

Address: 606 W Cypress St, San Antonio, TX 78212

The Cove: Sustainable, Organic, Local – Photo by

The Cove: Sustainable, Organic, Local (SOL Food) is a local favorite, serving only Texas-grown organic food and Texas brewed beers! From their burgers, tacos, salads, The Cove has something for everyone looking to catch some American fair food. The Cove has an extensive beer selection for the beer lover and one of the nicest playgrounds (in restaurants) in SATX. It’s a legit playground. The Cove has lots of seatings, mostly outdoors, but with good cover from the hot Texas summer. Grab a cold beer, have a burger and enjoy the time with your fam.
